Coombe Hill, Kingston upon Thames

The prosperous, wealthy Coombe Hill road neighbourhood in Kingston upon Thames is home to this beautiful, modern property. This six-bedroom house was designed with the view of creating lots of light and space and boasts a swimming pool, sauna, home cinema, 6 receptions, separate staff accommodation and even a wine cellar. It is on the market with a guide price of around £6 million – a bargain surely!

1Neo Bankside Apartments

The six-sided Neo Bankside apartments can be found beside the Tate Modern Art gallery on the edge of the River Thames. One of the most prominent external design features is the external bracing systems that form a steel diagrid across the facades and support the weight of each structure. These steel supports allowed for a more flexible internal design, with high ceiling to floor space, while also complementing the “industrial” heritage of the surrounding area. One of these 3 bedroom apartments, with breath-taking views of London’s skyline will set you back about £5 million.

The Sliding House, Suffolk

This is a fun property design that is sure to make you smile. The owners wanted light, space and a connection with the outdoors so architects dRMM came up with a property design that consistently changes. They used a huge, 20-ton sliding cover on railway tracks that on the one hand protects the building and on the other morphs the appearance on demand. It’s an ingenious design that really pushes the boundaries of architecture.

Stowe House

The oldest building on our list proves that truly great architectural design can remain admirable for centuries. Stowe House was built between 1700 and 1800 and worked on by pretty much every great architect of that era. Surrounded by acres of landscape gardens, this property offers a strong regal architectural design with statement features such as The Corinthian Arch, The Gothic Temple and The Rotondo.

London’s largest private house and indeed its most expensive is a beautiful, timeless, 25 bedroomed mansion named Witanhurst. Valued at over £300 million, Witanhurst boasts a 70ft-long ballroom, with a yellow, blue and gold ceiling that took six months to paint and gild. The Georgian ‘Orangery’, a three-storey building on the property, features a basement with massage rooms, a gym and a swimming pool fit for Olympic athletes.

Got some serious house envy? We do too! The U.K. is certainly home to some pretty amazing real estate, that’s for sure.
